Aloe pruinosa Reynolds is a South African endemic from KwaZulu-Natal province. Short Aloe is no more than 15 cm high.  It blooms in the end of the summer with dusty pink tubular flowers. Its leaves are short, spotted and toothed. This is a vulnerable species because of the rapidly expanded urban area, with only ten known locations. Aloe pruinosa can be seen in the exhibition greenhouse in  the University botanic garden of Balchik.

Cereus jamacaru reach heights of 3 to 9 metres and it is native to Brazil. It is a protected species according to the Washington Convention (CITES).  The trees prefer a sunny situation on dry soil. They tolerate temperatures down to -7°C Cereus jamacaru produces solitary white funnel-shaped flowers. The cactus produce edible berries. The juice of the plant is used for treating scurvy, lung and skin disease, also it is applied topically to treat ulcers. In University botanic garden – Balchik Cereus jamacaru  can be observed in collection inside our permanent greenhouse.
