IN MEMORIAM
Ognyan Iliev, Deputy Director of the University Botanical Gardens, left us at the age of 61.
He gave 35 years of his professional life to the cause of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" and University Botanic Gardens.
In 1987, he graduated from the Faculty of Biology of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" as a Master in Biology. Immediately after graduation, he started working in the "Invertebrate Zoology" department at the Faculty of Biology to the Sofia University. He was successively elected assistant and senior assistant. He conducted scientific researches in the field of entomology and discovered over twenty species of insects new to the fauna of Bulgaria.
In 2000, he assumed the position of Deputy Director of University Botanic Gardens. For many years he also held the position of Manager of University Botanic Garden - Varna.
We are saying goodbye to a great man, with a great heart and a great friend.
