The team of the University Botanic Garden – Balchik is pleased to invite you to a ceremonial celebration of Trifon Zarezan, the traditional day dedicated to vine growers and winemakers.
The celebration of Trifon Zarezan has deep roots in Bulgarian tradition and marks the beginning of the new vine-growing year. Through the ceremonial pruning of the vines, wishes are symbolically expressed for fertility, good health, and an abundant harvest. Over the centuries, Trifon Zarezan has become a symbol of the enduring bond between people, the land, and wine—an essential part of livelihood, culture, and festivity.
In the spirit of this long-standing tradition, we invite you to join us in a setting that preserves and celebrates the heritage of Bulgarian viticulture.
The event will take place on 13 February 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the University Botanic Garden – Balchik, Educational Area – Vineyard.
Parking is available at the Botanic Garden car park (vehicle entrance).
