Last week, the University Botanic Garden – Balchik welcomed students from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” for their field-based academic practicals, set among the Garden’s diverse living plant collections.
On June 11, first-year students from the Faculty of Biology, majoring in Molecular Biology, visited the Garden to apply their knowledge in zoology and botany within a real-world natural environment. Later, on June 15, third-year students from the Faculty of Geology and Geography—studying Geography, Regional Development, and Geospatial Systems and Technologies—participated in their field training. Their visit offered valuable exposure to both the region’s rich plant diversity and its specific socio-economic characteristics.
These visits were part of the students’ scheduled academic fieldwork, which provides an essential bridge between theory and practice, and a meaningful opportunity to gain hands-on experience across multiple scientific disciplines.
