The Rose Garden at the University Botanic Garden – Balchik is now coming to life with its stunning summer display. The first blooms are opening, marking the start of a flowering season that will continue from mid-June all the way into autumn.
The collection features a rich variety of both botanical species and cultivated rose groups – from the classic hybrid tea and remontant roses, to compact polyanthas and striking ground-covering types. Carefully maintained by the UBG – Balchik horticultural team, the rose beds are designed to reveal ever-changing floral compositions, as colour and fragrance unfold gradually throughout the season.
Members of the genus Rosa (Rosa spp.), belonging to the family Rosaceae, are among the oldest ornamentals cultivated by humans, with a history of use and admiration spanning millennia. In addition to their ornamental value, certain cultivars are also prized for their high essential oil content, especially in the petals.
We invite you to stroll through the Rose Garden and experience the blossoming beauty and delicate scent of the roses. The University Botanical Garden – Balchik is open to visitors daily from 08:00 to 20:00.
